Clemens Lukasser
Research Coordinator
Brief info
Clemens is originally from Austria and finished University in the UK in early 2024. He first came as an intern to Hoja Nueva in 2021 but returned shortly after to work full time studying mammals and to begin forming his own long-term research project. In his first year, Clemens contributed to augmenting and analyzing our camera trap database while supervising animal care at our domestic animal rescue center. He is particularly interested in predator-prey ecology which is why he started working on felid dietary analysis and launched a small mammal project aiming to answer questions about correlations between small mammal communities, their respective habitat uses and their dynamics with predators. The "rodent" project also includes the documentation of rodent and marsupial species which allows Clemens to integrate his passion for wildlife photography with science. Additionally, Clemens offers his expert photography skills to document both rescued animals (wild and domestic) and people at Hoja Nueva, contributing to our social media and fundraising efforts. When he's not out catching mouse opossums for his impactful research, Clemens can be found making french fries or trying to convince Sam to adopt more dogs.
