Indiana Zárate

Wildlife Veterinarian

Brief info

Indiana Zarate is an Argentinean wildlife veterinarian who has been integrated in wildlife medicine and conservation since she began her studies. She has worked at a variety of rescue and rehabilitation centers across South America including both in-situ and ex-situ projects, and most recently studied endangered mammals and birds in the Atlantic Forest of northern Argentina and Brazil's Universidade Estadual Paulista. Additionally, and because Indiana is passionate about expanding the discipline of wildlife conservation and veterinary sciences, she coordinates a group of students and graduates at the University of Buenos Aires to strengthen and provide training in her areas of expertise. Until coming to Hoja Nueva, Indiana spent over a year studying conservation medicine and epidemiological surveillance at different locations within Madre de Dios, Peru. Her main passion is to contribute to the restoration of healthy ecosystems with the ethical and successfull rehabilitation of both individuals and populations in mind. When Indiana isn't performing health checkups on our wild animals, you'll catch her sipping mate or treating dogs and cats in the local community!
