Carolina Shardin Lozano

Procurement, Logistics & Administrative Coordinator

Brief info

Carolina Shardin Lozano manages much of the purchasing and procurement required to sustain Hoja Nueva’s remote field operations.

Based in Puerto Maldonado and originally from Iquitos, Carolina coordinates orders for wildlife diets, veterinary and husbandry supplies, research equipment, construction materials, household necessities, and the many other items required by an organization operating several hours into the forest.

Purchasing for Hoja Nueva is not simply shopping. Food quantities must be planned around dozens of animals and staff; specialized items may be difficult to obtain locally; supplies must be organized around transport schedules; and everything moving toward the field site must eventually travel by road and river. Carolina helps ensure those systems remain organized and that teams are not left without critical materials.

She also supports accounting and administrative processes associated with purchasing and works closely with Juan Carlos and other logistics staff to coordinate regular supply movements.
Her role connects the city with almost every program in the forest, from feeding rescued wildlife and running research projects to maintaining infrastructure and housing students and staff.
