Anna Molls
Domestic Animal Rescue & Volunteer Coordinator
Brief info
Anna Molls coordinates volunteer engagement and program development for Hoja Nueva’s domestic animal rescue work in Puerto Maldonado. With a background in behavioral ecology and wildlife rehabilitation, she brings experience in animal care, welfare, behavior, and structured training to the organization’s growing dog and cat program.
After originally joining Hoja Nueva through its Wildlife Rehabilitator training program, Anna transitioned into the domestic animal team as that work expanded. She now helps build the systems needed to support a larger, more organized rescue program, including volunteer recruitment and coordination, daily animal-care routines, enrichment and welfare practices, training and orientation, and the development of clear responsibilities for people supporting the center.
Anna works closely with Hoja Nueva’s permanent domestic-animal staff to ensure that volunteers contribute meaningfully while maintaining consistent standards of care. Her behavioral background is especially useful for animals arriving frightened, poorly socialized, or recovering from neglect, abandonment, or other difficult circumstances.
She also contributes to the broader development of Hoja Nueva’s One Health work, helping strengthen a program that connects domestic-animal welfare with community health and wildlife conservation. As the new purpose-built dog and cat rescue center grows, Anna is helping create the volunteer structure and educational framework needed for the program to expand sustainably.
