Jared Guevara is a biologist from Cusco and Manager of Hoja Nueva’s Khan ReWilding Center. A graduate of Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco, he has a background in vertebrate biology, ecological monitoring, and wildlife management and has developed extensive practical experience in the rehabilitation of Amazonian wildlife.

Jared leads the daily operations of the rewilding center and works alongside Joaquín, Kelly, and Ronald as part of the core rehabilitation team. He coordinates animal-care schedules, staff responsibilities, diets, enrichment, enclosure use, behavioral monitoring, health observations, and the progressive rehabilitation of animals ranging from small mammals to peccaries, caimans, and large felids.

He has particular responsibility for Hoja Nueva’s large carnivores, including jaguars and pumas, and works closely with veterinarians and directors on behavioral assessment, pre-release preparation, veterinary procedures, and release planning. His intimate knowledge of individual animals—how they behave, feed, respond to humans, use their enclosures, and change over time—is fundamental to decisions about rehabilitation progress.

Jared also plays a major role in training students in Hoja Nueva’s Wildlife Rehabilitator Course, helping translate years of practical experience into structured instruction in husbandry, enrichment, welfare, behavior, and rewilding.

As Hoja Nueva has grown, Jared has helped transform the rescue center from a founder-dependent program into one increasingly operated by an experienced Peru-based wildlife team.
